I’m Elliot Wyman, a queer and transgender counselor currently completing my Masters in Counseling at Northwestern University. With a background in psychology and extensive education in women’s, gender, and LGBTQ+ studies, I’m passionate about walking alongside adolescents and emerging adults as they navigate the beautiful, messy process of discovering who they are and where they belong in the world. Having traveled my own journey of identity and self-discovery, I understand how isolating these experiences can feel. I believe that you already carry the strength within you to heal and grow.
My approach blends Psychodynamic, CBT, Mindfulness-Based, and Person-Centered techniques, all from a feminist and multicultural perspective. Whether you’re grappling with anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+ concerns, or major life transitions, you will find a safe space where all parts of you are welcomed. I'm known for creating sessions that feel like genuine conversations with someone who won't judge your messiest thoughts, biggest fears, or wildest dreams. Much of our work together will involve exploring difficult emotions and experiences, but I also believe that growth flourishes when we can celebrate your strengths, acknowledge your progress, and fully embrace who you are. Though I specialize in working with adolescents and emerging adults, I’m open to supporting clients of any age who resonate with my approach.
When I'm not in the therapy room, I’m a proud pet parent to two wonderful cats. I love expressing my creativity through drawing, painting, and crocheting. You might also find me getting lost in a good video game, discovering new music, or connecting with nature. I’m an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, intersectional feminism, anti-racism, and body positivity. I am also sex-worker and kink positive. These values shape how I show up in the world and in the therapy room, ensuring we consider how oppressive systems might be contributing to your distress. Taking the step to seek support takes courage, and I am here to honor that bravery as we work together.
