OFFERINGS

Psychotherapy

At the heart of the psychotherapy I offer is compassion and non-judgment toward you as the client. It’s always been in my nature to be tuned into the emotional current around me, which gives me a strong intuition and a strong sense of what emotions lie at the heart of the experiences you share. That helps me to attune to your experience and listen deeply. I work to access emotional material that might not be fully available to you in your conscious awareness just yet because of blocks that are related to trauma or defenses that you’ve built to protect yourself. We all have emotional blocks that keep us from seeing clearly and from moving through the world as freely as we could be. It’s my job as your therapist to patiently work with you to expand your access to what lies at the depths of your subconscious in order to awaken a fuller sense of agency in your life. As Carl Jung said, “until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”

Art Therapy

In Art Therapy, we use music, painting, drawing, poetry and narrative storytelling to move emotional energy and feel a little bit lighter at the end of a session.

EMDR

EMDR stands for eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing. It’s a technique that was originally developed to treat PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and utilizes bilateral stimulation as a way to support the nervous system as you face strong emotions. EMDR helps to bring up repressed emotions that need to be digested and released in order for you to move forward. EMDR offers a structured approach that helps you to regulate emotions that are difficult to face on your own, and that therefore have become stuck in the body. Once you face them, you can release them. The emotions became stuck and stored in the body in the first place because they were too intense to deal with at the time of the original event when you felt them. Often times, people come to therapy with physical symptoms that are connected to stuck emotions. That is the body’s way of speaking up and asking for your attention. In addition to treating mental health issues, EMDR also works well as a treatment for problems such as IBS, migraines, chronic pain or essentially any concern that remains mysterious when viewed from a purely physical lens. That’s your cue that the problem is emotional in nature.

Hypnotherapy

In hypnotherapy sessions, I guide you into a meditative state from which to explore memories and the subconscious roots of your current obstacles. For some people, entering into a trance-like state is quite easy and makes for very efficient work, because we’re able to bypass all the defense mechanisms that are present when you’re at a fully conscious level of awareness. For others, it can be more of a challenge to relax into a meditative state. Hypnotherapy isn’t for everyone, but if it calls to you, you might be a good candidate. Hypnotherapy can be a useful tool for treating addictions, PTSD, and phobias. Hypnotherapy can also be used in a more creative and future-oriented way for you to explore possibilities from a dreamier point of view. Some clients also report experiencing past life regression as part of the hypnotherapy experience.
